Self-Management
Self-Management
Can Self-management have positive outcomes as well as
negative? Don’t ask me … this question is for you. Self-management requires an
immense amount of discipline… which I have a lot of trouble in practising. (how
can people even do this??? I want to know what sort of medication do they take
or what they do to achieve such degree of hard-core discipline.) in short,
self-management is an arduous process.
Self-management can be a boon to some and it can be a
nuisance to others. Entrepreneurs, as all of us are well aware of, can find
opportunities and potential market strategies in the face of the worst kind of
obstacles. The main reason for their keen eye is patience. And with patience,
comes the two-in-one package of discipline. You can take the example of any
profession you want to relate yourself with… all of them have the patience to
wait for the right moment to make their move.
Since I’ve indulged into this subject too much, why
not acquaint you all with the meaning of this term-which is like a constant
headache for me-? Self-management means the ability to cope up with certain
drawbacks and emotions with effective measures. Self-management is made up of
two main characteristics:
INITIATIVE
Initiative is the engine that drives forward the train
of self-management. If you won’t take the initiative, then you will have
absolutely no scope of succeeding in your life. Trust me… you will get plenty
of opportunities in your life, whether you are studying in high school,
university or college. But there’s this peculiar thing about opportunities:
they show up unexpectedly. You don’t know when they are coming. You just have
to embrace them and move on. I too have had these kinds of moments recently.
But the real question we should ask ourselves is: when
to take such initiatives and what are we volunteering for? Sometimes… we get so
lost in the moment that we don’t acknowledge what we’ve volunteered for. This
is like shooting an arrow in the dark. You just shoot an arrow and have no idea
where it is going to end up. So, one important thing to keep in mind is that we
should be aware of the purpose of the event we have volunteered for. This will
prevent the stupefaction which we encounter later on.
ORGANISATION
SKILLS
Are you a pro in organising all your stuff so that you
have it ready and in place whenever you need it? Have you prioritized your
tasks and made adjustments to your schedule for the same? Then you are not like
me. I am a mess when it comes to doing tasks on time. To be organised means to
be like near-perfect… at least that has been the image that had been imprinted
in my mind at a very young age. Now… everyone has a differing perspective.
That’s how we get to hear the lousy and an otherwise very questionable
statement: “I beg to differ”. By this, the person is actually trying to put
forward his/her way of understanding the concept. Anyways, since we’re talking
about organisation, what else can be deemed necessary for such a thing? Can it
be awareness of your surroundings? Can it be our sense of spatial reasoning?
Can it be the fact that some of us are from extremely high profile, gaudy and
well-to-do classes? There are so many can if’s that if I try to tell them all,
my whole blog will end without any productivity!
We can relate organisation to many things around us
and understand them in the same way based on our way of understanding things as
they are. We can relate organisation to the ability to keep our heads above water
or we can say that organization means to segregate tasks in order to achieve
the overall objective.
Organisation is extremely important for all of us. Being
organised is the foundation of a disciplined, well-to-do person. Organisation is
as vital to self-management as the heart is to a man.
In the end, I would say that being self-managed has it’s
pros as well as cons.
