COVID 19: Impact On Schools and Education

COVID 19: Impact on Schools

Imagine you are in a field, where you are playing soccer with your team. You are supposed to defeat the opponent team. But suddenly, out of the blue, they send in a surprise pack. A player whose dexterity is unmatched by any player on your team, and he is able to counter your every move. This situation is relatable to what is happening now. This COVID disease is like a big, silent monster who is hell-bent on decimating almost a thirds of the world’s current populace.

This virus is running amok round the world… and we’re watching haplessly how this virus’ onslaught will culminate in massive catastrophes. Now… I am genuinely scared of what is going to happen henceforth. My finals are about to start on the 12th of February and we’re nowhere close to controlling the spread of this contaminating agent.

I am pretty much annoyed, bored and agonized by the present COVID already to have another type faltering our way of life too. Sure, this virus has been helpful… but not to us, to the environment. I am starting to get angsty about this situation and as if this couldn’t get worse, CBSE, the leading educational board in India, has also promulgated that the examinations of standards 9th and 11th will be conducted offline, I mean via physical presence in the classroom (yay… very special privileges).

I still don’t understand this move of CBSE. When thousands of students are agreeing to the common notion of not going to school in such times when the chances of infection are extremely likely and our very lives are hanging on a very thin thread, the board has been adamant whatsoever and voted in favour of their decision. Now I can only hope for my safety and give the exam physically, undertaking all the safety protocols.

But it seems that this is not such a concerning issue now after all. There has been some relief. India has finally initiated the vaccination process. In 2 days, more than 2 lakh front line warriors have been vaccinated, setting an all-time record for the fastest vaccination in a brief amount of time. At least now there is something to hope for, something to look forward to, otherwise the future was looking bleak for the whole nation. I just hope things go back to the way as they were and we get to live the life that we once were living. Hope you all stay safe and healthy and follow whatever there is to be followed for now.
